Make your vacation complete with a visit to Breckenridge attractions
There's a lot more to the Breckenridge
area than skiing. Breckenridge attractions offer a myriad of things to see
and do, whether you're looking to fill an hour or a day. With choices as
varied as museums, theaters, and historical sites, you'll never have a dull
moment during your visit to Breckenridge. So let us show you some of our
favorite places to play.
Nordic
Sleigh Rides
Welcome to Nordic Sleigh Rides, a truly unique Breckenridge experience.
Your evening begins with a sleigh ride on custom-built Santa sleighs pulled
by huge Belgian draft horses wearing antique brass sleigh bells. Under
crisp Colorado skies, the horses deliver your sleigh to a recreation of
an 1860's miner's camp. You'll feel as though you've gone back in time
140 years to Breckenridge's early mining days! As your sleigh is arriving
at the camp you will be greeted by the sounds of "rag-time"
being played on a piano made in 1895. For your meal, we serve great steaks,
barbecue chicken or baked salmon dinners complete with hot apple pie for
dessert. Much of your meal will be prepared on an antique wood cook stove
that actually came out a mining camp in 1865.
Gold Run Nordic Center
Imagine the Colorado sun on your face as you hit your stride on a crisp
winter morning with the Ten Mile Range, Baldy, and Guyot providing the
magnificent panaromic backdrop. And after the exhilarating workout, imagine
relaxing in the Gold Run day lodge where overstuffed leather chairs and
couches, a roaring fire and delicious soup bar await you. You'll call
it a great place to relax after a great workout.
Phoenix Gold Mine
The Phoenix Gold Mine is a great place for field trips, vacation stops
or just to spend the day for locals. Only 18 miles from Hwy 40 and I-70
to Idaho Springs, it is an easy trip up from the Denver Metro Area. Your
Tour includes instruction on Gold Panning as well as the use of our gold
pans and stream. With the picnic grounds and bbq pits (fire restrictions
do apply) it is a great place to spend the day in the beautiful Alps Mountain
area on Trail Creek. So take your friends, family or groups back 100 years
and be a Prospector for the day!
Alpine Snowmobile Rentals
Experience fresh powder while exploring the many miles of groomed trails
on new Polaris 550 snowmobiles or mush a team of Alaskan Huskies while
you take in the awe-inspiring scenery and wildlife.
Colorado Rocky Ballooning
Make your dream a reality with a hot air balloon ride in the magnificent
Colorado Rockies. Colorado Rocky Ballooning serves the Colorado resort
areas of Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain and Vail. Experience
the highest altitude hot air ballooning in the country with all flights
launching above 9,600 feet MSL. Your balloon adventure will provide you
with spectacular 100 mile panoramic mountain views. Prominent scenery
may include views of the Continental Divide, Breckenridge Ski Resort,
Lake Dillon, Keystone Resort, the Ten Mile Range, Pikes Peak, South Park,
vast rolling ranges, native Colorado wildlife and the 14,000 foot Collegiate
peaks.
Breckenridge Golf Club
The
world's only Jack Nicklaus-designed municipal golf course, the Breckenridge
Golf Club is in its 18th year. The 27 hole course incorporates all the
Rocky Mountain's natural beauty -streams, beaver ponds, native grasses,
sage brush, wetlands, pine and aspen groves. It's also home to the NFL
Denver Broncos Alumni Rocky Mountain Golf Classic in June. Pro Erroll
Miller and his staff see to all the details: The pro shop is fully stocked,
and the restaurant/bar are full service.
Peak
8 Fun Park
Peak 8 Fun Park at the Breckenridge Ski Resort dishes up plentiful
summer fun. Chairlift rides up and down the mountain offer a chance to
snap some photos of incredible vistas, and the Alpine SuperSlide has three
fiberglass tracks to descend the slope just a bit faster. Control the
speed on the half-mile ride in sleds that can accommodate an adult and
small child. Also at Peak 8 are the SuperPutt miniature golf course and
Amaze'N Breckenridge human maze, as well as mountain biking.
Colorado River Runs
The rivers of Colorado cut deeply through the most spectacular scenery
in the state. Narrow gorges become passageways that reveal the hidden
layers of geological development. Broad flood plains open to display vistas
of high mountain peaks miles in the distance. From tranquil backwaters
to exciting rapids, the currents provide the setting for a celebration
of nature that cannot be experienced elsewhere.
Georgetown Loop Railroad
The history of the magnificent Georgetown Loop streches back
more than a century. The story begins during a time when the mountains
were appreciated not just for their appearance, but for what was hiding
inside. And what was found inside the mountains between Georgetown and
Silver Plume in the 1860's quickly established the area as one of the
great silver-producing regions in the world.
